We’re still riding high after a truly special Spring 2025—our inaugural season of the Balsz Home2First Baseball League (BHBL) brought organized baseball back to East Phoenix for the first time in nearly a decade!

Led by the Home2First Foundation, the BHBL launched with four spirited teams of K–2 student-athletes from the Balsz School District, giving 40 kids the chance to learn, play, and grow through the game of baseball. But this was more than just a league—it was a movement.

We combined on-field coaching with off-field education, introducing “classroom practices” that taught the kids about trailblazers like Jackie Robinson and Yogi Berra, and brought in inspiring guest speakers like a former professional player and the current Tempe Fire Chief. Through it all, we emphasized the core values of hard work, resilience, and teamwork.

This incredible first season wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors and community partners, who helped bring our vision to life.
